About
My name is Justin and my family of 5 have decided to share our adventures with you in hopes that it encourages you to create your own amazing
adventures. We created a you tube channel called Gnomeish Advetures and we all work hard to share what has kept our family experincing the most
awesome adventures with very limited time, money, and resources.
My wife’s family is from Mexico and El Salvador. Every summer they would take epic vacations to Mexico and Central America. Before we got engaged,
and later married, I got invited on one of these vacations. We flew into the jungle of Ixtapa Mexico, where the lush tropical forest poured onto white
powdery beaches. We stay at an all inclusive 5 star resort with beautiful grounds and even more beautiful people giving us 5-star service. The price for this
vacation of 8 people was incredibly affordable, to the point where we could afford to hire mariachi bands to serenade us during several of our dinners, as
well as giving all the service staff we came across generous tips. Needless to say I was hooked, and I started my bucket list of vacations that I wanted to
take, my family to be on.
As we started down the road of marriage we had a very modest income and we focused growing our careers, her’s in wine, and mine in food/gardening
(as a hobby). We both weren’t getting paid much and we both were doing tons of research wining and dining. Always trying to grow our knowledge base
and individual skill sets. Needless to say, we had very limited time, money, and resources. We started taking mini-adventures, “Adventurettes”, to different
wine & food regions thru out California, so we could gain knowledge and have an adventure.
This soon turned into other states which grew into to other countries. That was not the only thing growing, we went from 4-legged babies, to 2-legged
babies, all the while our careers kept growing. We now had time, money, and resources. We have always chosen to spend the bulk of our disposable
income on experiences and not “STUFF”. This led us to start our bucket list vacations with our nuclear family, which has grown to include our extended
family and friends. We focus on several mini-adventures in between our vacations abroad (every 3 years or so).
We started adding recreational vehicles (seldom did we buy new) to the mix, so we could continue to strengthen the ties of our family by having
adventures at the same locations but with a twist. We introduced these to our family as “shared hobbies”. We soon incorporated these into our adventures
and vacations abroad. To this day we encourage our friends to borrow our recreational vehicles to have adventures of their own. My wife and I have over
50 years in the food & wine industry, as well as over 30 years of aventures to share with y’all.
If we can do this with limited time, money, and resources then so can you.
Let’s get crackin!
